Summer Action and Adventure Program to begin
TORRINGTON >> The Parks and Recreation Department is offering the annual Summer Action and Adventure Program.
This program is open to children 4 years old to children entering 8th Grade in the fall. The Action Program is for children 4 years old to children entering 3rd Grade and will be based at Pleasant View Park on Durand Street.
The Adventure Program is for children entering grades 4-8 in the fall and will be based at Major Besse Park on Riverside Avenue. The program will run for seven weeks, Monday-Friday, -July 3-Aug. 18, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., with the option of Before Care and/or After Care for an additional fee. There will be an orientation day for all participants on June 30, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Several affordable packages are available to meet the varying needs of participants and families. Sign up for two week sessions of camp or select a package that covers the whole summer and saves money. Each two-week session includes all activities, visits to the municipal pool, and two field trips to exciting destinations.
Daily onsite activities will include arts and crafts, sports, group games, onsite visits from local organizations, field days, and so much more. Weekly field trips will feature visits to a Hartford Yard Goats game, Lake Coupounce, Roller Magic, Roaring Brook Nature Center, Burr Pond, Quassy Waterpark, and the movies.
