ROAD RACE: Friends of Brodie Park and New Hartford Recreation present the annual Race Around the Lake on Sunday, May 28. Registrati­on begins at 8:30a.m. Race starts promptly at 10 a.m. Join your neighbors to run, walk, cheer or volunteer at this 3.5 miles fun run/walk around West Hill Lake at Brodie Park. FISHING DERBY: New Hartford Recreation Department presents the 10th Annual David Childs Memorial Fishing Derby along the Farmington River. The event begins on Saturday, May 27, at 7 am and ends on Sunday, May 28 at 3:30 p.m. There are Adult and Youth prizes with a top prize of $1,000. Cost is $10 for adults, $3 for ages 12 and under or a $15 maximum per family. TOWN PICNIC: A Memorial Day Old Fashioned Town Picnic will be held Monday, May 29, 2 p.m. at the Morris Town Beach Pavilion. Admission is free. There will be live music and activities for children. There will be a one-day delay for pick up of all municipal solid waste and recyclable­s collection for the remainder of the week following Memorial Day. Friday’s regularly scheduled collection will be on Saturday. The regular schedule will resume the following week.
