Fine Arts Connection to hold concert series

THOMASTON >> The Fine Arts Connection of Thomaston has selected the bands that will appear in the 2017 free Summer Band concerts at Seth Thomas Park in Thomaston. This is the gala 15 year anniversar­y of the concert series. Corporate sponsor, Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation, provided the seed money to help fundrasing.

The concerts are on Monday evenings, beginning on June 19, and run through Aug. 14, 7-8:30 p.m., and are held at Seth Thomas Park on South Main St., Thomaston. Concerts are free, and all are welcome to attend; the park is handicap accessible. In the event of rain, the concerts move to the air-conditione­d Thomaston High School auditorium,

The concert for June 19 features the perennial Community Band favorite, Farmington Valley Band. The Thomaston Rotary Club is sponsoring this concert. In the event of rain, this concert only would be held at the First Congregati­onal Church on Main St.

June 26 brings back some old friends, Opening Night, followed by Evan Gottfried’s Family Extravagan­za for children of all ages on July 3rd! The Connecticu­t Community Foundation is the sponsor for this concert.

July 10 will see the return of the Thomaston Jazz Orchestra. July 17 will again feature Thomaston’s favorite original, Clearview. July 24 will feature the superb Nancy Tucker, singer, songwriter, actress, comedian, and children’s performer. On July 31, Restless Mountain performs with their Americana/ Bluegrass music.

August 7th we welcome back Irish Balladeers, The Kerry Boys, who have graced our stage many times with their light-hearted Irish tunes. Barrett Family Oil is sponsoring this concert. Closing out this year’s 15th anniversar­y season is another crowd favorite, The Zolla Boys, with their fine bluegrass music.

Guests can bring lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic if they wish. Parking is available at the Unimetal lot across from the Park. Due to a town ordinance, alcohol is not permitted in the Park.
