Grange to host Strawberry Festival on Sunday

WINSTED » Take Dad out for dessert on Father’s Day, June 18, when Winchester Grange presents its annual Strawberry Festival at the Grange Hall on the Green in Winchester Center, at 100 Newfield Road.

The festival features large servings of strawberry shortcake, made with fresh strawberri­es, homemade biscuits, and freshly whipped cream.

The festival will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will run until it sells out. The price is $6 for adults and $3.50 for a child’s serving. Take-outs and food baked by the members of Winchester Grange will also be available for purchase. The Winsted Laurel Queen will also be on hand, making her first official appearance after being crowned on Sunday, June 11.

To get to Winchester Center: From Winsted, take Route 263 to the Winchester Center Green. From Torrington, take Newfield Road (at the corner of Winsted Road and North Main Street) to the Winchester Center Green.

Formed Jan. 2, 1888, Winchester Grange is one of the largest community granges east of the Mississipp­i River in membership, and is extremely active in the Winchester Center community, holding numerous programs and events year-round.
