Man accused of trespassing in fire-damaged home
TORRINGTON » A Winsted man is facing charges after being found trespassing in a fire-damaged Torrington home with prescription drugs in his possession, police said.
Scott H. Centrella, 28, of 176 Torringford Road, Winchester, was arrested July 15 and charged with firstdegree criminal trespassing and sixthdegree larceny.
Two officers were dispatched to Main Street for a reported act of vandalism, according to a probable cause report, just before midnight on July 15. Dispatchers told the officers that a witness had seen a man walk around the gated fence on the property earlier in the evening, then heard the man “breaking things on the second floor” of the home.
The officers entered the home and found Centrella in the second-floor bedroom. The house had been vacated after sustaining significant fire damage in a fire several months ago, police said.
A Private Property and No Trespassing sign was posted on one of the boarded-up windows in the front of the home, police said.
Centrella was arrested approximately a half-hour after midnight, according to the report. Three prescription bottles that had not been prescribed to him were found when he was searched, according to the report.
He was later released from custody on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Bantam Superior Court on July 24, police said.
