Hospital seeks TLC Program volunteers

-

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is now seeking Tender Loving Care (TLC) Program volunteers, who offer patients the gift of a gentle hand and / or foot massage during their stay.

The massages erase anxiety and pain through a few moments of personal connection. TLC volunteers participate in training to develop the techniques as well as quality patient communication and listening skills.

Having completed a general hospital orientation, physical and background check, a volunteer’s commitment is a weekly shift of 2-3 hours.

“Volunteers make wonderful patient partners because patients respond well to volunteers. They provide a welcome bridge and enhance the appreciation of the Hospital and its community,” said CHH Volunteer Coordinator Shelli Rhoads.

For more than 100 years, the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Volunteer Program has provided essential, supplementary and complementary services to patients, families, visitors and staff. The current volunteer program at CHH has 160 traditional volunteers in more than 30 nonclinical and clinical areas that make a profound and positive difference in the Hospital’s daily operations.

If you would like to become part of our Volunteer Team, contact Volunteer Coordinator Shelli Rhoads at 860- 4966470 or srhoads@hungerford.org for more information.
