FARMERS MARKET: The Torrington Farmer’s Market is held Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the upper parking lot of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles Street. The Tuesday market runs from 3-6 p.m. Offered will be fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, honey and maple syrup, cheese, meats, locally produced soaps, children’s books and more. Come see what is new with your local farmers and catch up with your neighbors. REGISTRAR LOTTERY: A public lottery will be held to determine the order of the names on the ballot for multiple openings of offices in the November 2017 Municipal Election, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Hartland Town Hall in the Hartland Room. All town residents, regardless of party affiliation are invited to attend.

NEW CHESS CLUB: A new group, the Litchfield County Chess Club, meets Thursdays at the Torrington Library, 12 Daycoeton Place, Torrington, from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. on Thursdays. OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY: Northwest CT Overdose Awareness Day, Community Resource Fair and Vigil will be held Aug. 31, 6 p.m. at Coe Memorial Park. Admission is free. Come together and honor the memory and commemorate the lives of those lost to opioid overdose and addiction. Attendees can also learn about available local resources from informational booths; refreshments provided. Vigil begins at 8 p.m. with speakers, music and prayers. Saturday, Sept. 2 SALISBURY MARKET: The new Salisbury Farmers Market
will be held every Saturday morning, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on the lawn at the Scoville Library, with an array of vegetables, meats,cheeses, rustic breads, jams, vinegar and plants plus occasional guest appearances by chefs and other food producers. Markets continue weekly through October.
