Naugatuck Valley Genealogy Club to meet
PROSPECT — The Naugatuck Valley Genealogy Club will meet at Prospect Public Library, 17 Center St., on Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Following a brief business meeting, Jerry and Julianne Garry will present “Bringing Genealogy to Life through Sight, Sound and Motion,“addressing the challenge of communicating genealogy findings across generations.
Today’s digital generation is accustomed to using the Internet, video and smart phones as their primary education and communication vehicles. Many are unaware of the challenge genealogists face representing an earlier age with limited documentation, artifacts or photography. How do you capture the attention of the next generation and hand down precious family research? There aretools and techniques that can help bridge this divide.
This presentation will show how one father and daughter team joined forces to turn genealogical research into family heirlooms that appeal across generations through print and video. They will discuss the process and tools used to go from research and initial story writing to publishing bound books and creating videos.
A 30-minute video will be shown, followed by a discussion highlighting a few methods, tips and tricks to get you started. The public is invited and admission is free. For more information, visit the club website at www.naugatuckvalleygenealogyclub.org or call Dick Kreitner at 203-881-8181.
