FALL FESTIVAL: Celebrate Halloween at the St. Anthony School Parents Guild Fall Festival on Saturday, 4-6 p.m. at Ruwet Farm, located on East Pearl Road in Torrington. The event is open to the public. The cost of $10 per child includes a tractor ride to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin to take home (parents are allowed to ride too), visiting the haunted house, walking through the corn maze, games, and a bonfire by the pond. Hot dogs, salt potatoes, popcorn, water, juice and soda will also available for purchase. All children attending the event must be accompanie­d by an adult (no drop-offs). Children and adults are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes. TRIBUTE CONCERT: Northweste­rn Regional High School, Winsted, will host a tribute concert to honor the career of long time music educator Francis P. Shea who passed away this summer, Oct. 14, 3 p.m. in the school auditorium. The concert will feature music played by the Alumni Jazz Band, the Harmonious Brass, and high school students in Northweste­rn’s Wind Symphony who will be joined by over 50 alumni musicians from around the country who played under Shea during his career. CENTENNIAL EVENT: The Friends of Main Street, the Winchester Economic Developmen­t Commission, the Winchester Historical Society, and the Winsted Schools, invite all to celebrate the Winsted Centennial. Winsted was officially recognized by the State of Connecticu­t as a city in 1917 and to commend that event, a time capsule will be buried on the grounds of the Winchester Historical Society on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. The capsule is to be opened in 2067.
