Civil discourse is topic of program

LITCHFIELD — The League of Women Voters of Litchfield County’s next Lunch and Learn program- a monthly informal discussion, open to the public, will discuss the topic of civil discourse. Members and guests will talk about how to hold civil conversations with those with whom we disagree, and reflect on how we might shape our comments so that they demonstrate respect for both political parties.

The meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 19, 12 p.m. at the Oliver Wolcott Library, 160 South Street, in Litchfield, at 12 noon. League Board member, The Reverend Lois Keen will moderate the conversation and offer a few suggestions. “While social media may not be the place to expect civil discourse, you can learn a few tips on how not to get hooked by flamethrowing exchanges” says Keen

If your family gatherings are fraught with political pitfalls, you have friends you find yourself avoiding because conversation is so tense, and social media is making you just plain mad… Bring your bag lunch and come join us. Let's talk.
