Tickets on sale for 2018 events

GOSHEN — Tickets are now on sale for the 23rd annual Litchfield Jazz Festival, scheduled for next summer.

The iconic festival will make its appearance on the last weekend of July rather than its traditional first weekend in August. The move was a response to the Newport Jazz Festival appearing on the same weekend as Litchfield this past summer.

Vita Muir, Litchfield’s founder and artistic /executive director, said many Litchfield fans have enjoyed attending both jazz festivals each year. When Newport announced its date for 2018, no other move made sense. The move also helps to eliminate artists’ booking conflicts.

With about half of Litchfield’s audience hailing from outside Connecticut and as far away as Israel, France and New Zealand, Muir said she wanted to go public early with the date change so visitors could adjust their summer vacation schedules in time.

Many guests make their local B & B and hotel reservations for the following summer as they leave town. The Goshen Agricultural Society and their former president, Rick Wadhams, stepped in quickly and made adjustments to accommodate the date change, for which, Muir says, she is very appreciative.

The 2018 Festival will kick off on Saturday, July 28, with its popular Jazz Brunch (included in Saturday and weekend VIP tickets and a Saturday Lawn/Brunch option). The music will feature a stellar line-up including Jane Bunnett and Maqueque, Trio Da Paz, Dan Brubeck & Friends, Jeff Tain Watts, Emmett Cohen w/ Jimmy Cobb and more!
