Learn to master money at weekend event
WATERTOWN — Financial planner and mentor Brie Sodano is offering a two-day workshop at her office in Watertown Jan. 6 and 7, in which participants “will learn more about money in two days than in all those years of school.”
“It’s a crazy idea that we go to school for 16 years to learn a skill to make money, and work 40 hours per week to make it, but are never actually taught to manage it,” Sodano says. “We let money be a dictator in life, rather than a tool.”
While Sodano typically works with women through her firm From Sheep to Shark, the January weekend is open to anyone. And while she usually works with clients for six months, she’ll be covering all the bases in this special two-day event, teaching participants “everything at lightning speed.”
The Money Mastery Weekend is for men and women who make good money but feel stuck in the rat race, who know what they want but can’t afford it, know they could manage their money better, face challenges spending wisely, saving and investing—and are ready to make a change and adopt a growth mindset.
Benefits for participants include:
⏩ Getting clarity in setting money goals and make your own definition of financial success
⏩ Identifying the beliefs that are the root cause of your money problems so you can change them
⏩ Aligning your money goals and life goals in a way that makes sense
⏩ Creating a System to manage money easily and quickly without budgets
⏩ Paying down debt as quickly and efficiently as possible
⏩ Overcoming the most common problems that keep people stuck in the rat race
The cost for the Money Mastery Weekend is $125 per person, and participants will gather in the training room at Sodano’s office at 76 Westbury Park Road in Watertown. A light lunch will be provided each day.

In the past, Sodano worked in the nonprofit sector at the Boys & Girls Club in Waterbury for nine years, experience that positions her to understand government programs. Among other aspects of financial planning, she specializes in student loan forgiveness.
She is involved in the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s Young Professionals of Waterbury Region (YPOWR), and the United Way of Greater Waterbury Emerging Leaders.
Sodano lives in Watertown with her husband, Mike, and two children.
