LITCHFIELD — Litchfield Bancorp recently announced the promotion of Paul McLaughlin to Executive Vice President as of January 2018.

McLaughlin began his career with Litchfield Bancorp more than 25 years ago and is an avid member of the community in Northwest Connecticu­t.

“I am pleased to announce the promotion of Paul to EVP, approved by the Litchfield Bancorp Board last week,” President and Chief Executive Officer, Thomas J. Villanova said, in announcing McLaughlin’s promotion. “Paul is a leader in the community, a leader in our organizati­on and a leader in the Connecticu­t Mutual Holding Company.”

McLaughlin currently serves as a board member for the McCall Center for Behavioral Health; cochairman for the Northwest Connecticu­t Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program; Partners for Sustainabl­e Healthy Communitie­s Trustee; President of the Litchfield Area Business Associatio­n; Greenwoods Counseling Director and a member of the Torrington High School Governance Committee. In the past, he has also served as a President of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Northwest Connecticu­t; Held positions with the Oliver Wolcott Library as Board of Trustee, Annual Fund Chairman, Vice President and Treasurer; as well as a Rotary Member.

Romeo joins Salisbury Bank

LAKEVILLE — Salisbury Bank and Trust Company recently announced that Allison Romeo has joined the Bank as assistant vice president, customer support and electronic services manager.

“We are very fortunate and pleased to welcome Allison to our team,” said Betsy Summervill­e, Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Officer. “Allison brings a wealth of industry knowledge and management experience to her position and will oversee every aspect of our Customer Support Department.”

Romeo most recently worked at Adams Community Bank as AVP, Customer Care Manager. She also has experience at Lenox National Bank, working as their Data Processing Manager. Allison holds a Bachelors’ in Psychology from the Massachuse­tts College of Liberal Arts. She currently resides in Lee, Massachuse­tts.

Webster promotes SVP to corporate controller

WATERBURY — Webster Financial Corporatio­n, the holding company for Webster Bank, N.A. and its HSA Bank division, today announced that Frederick M. Smith has been named corporate controller of Webster Bank and Webster Financial Corporatio­n.

Smith, 52, has more than 25 years of financial services industry experience. He previously served as assistant controller of Webster Bank. As corporate controller, Smith will serve as a senior leader within Webster’s Accounting Department and oversee the corporatio­n’s accounting operations, close and consolidat­ion, and financial reporting activities.

“Fred brings with him more than two decades of corporate financial accounting experience at Webster that includes financial and regulatory reporting, accounting policy, and merger and acquisitio­ns,” said Glenn MacInnes, executive vice president and chief financial officer. “Webster is committed to the highest standards of transparen­cy and accuracy in its accounting and Fred, as well as the entire Accounting team, has an impressive track record in these areas as well.”

A resident of Prospect, Smith joined Webster in 2005 as vice president, external financial reporting manager and since then has held positions of increasing responsibi­lity within the company’s Accounting Department. Prior to joining Webster, he held positions of financial analysis and reporting at The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection & Insurance Company and Aetna Inc. in Hartford, Connecticu­t.

Smith received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bentley University and is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant­s. He also serves as a member of the Accounting Advisory Board at Post University in Waterbury, Connecticu­t.

Laurel City Towing wins third place in exposition

WINSTED — Spencer Parent, 23, owner of Laurel City Towing & Recovery, LLC, in Winsted, recently won third place in the nation at the American Towman Exposition in Baltimore, MD.

Laurel City Towing & Recovery was also featured in the internatio­nal LDM magazine in France.
