Local artist’s works featured in hospital exhibit
TORRINGTON — The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary is featuring works from local artist Marilyn Ventresca DiChiara through early March in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield St. in Torrington.
The public is invited to view and buy the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
DiChiara is a graduate of the Paier College of Art in Hamden, and has received many awards from various arts organizations including the Northeast Watercolor Society. After working full time as a graphic designer in various advertising agencies and publishing companies, and freelancing while raising her two children, she transitioned to the fine arts exploring the medium of watercolor. A strong enjoyment of drawing also led her to create works in colored pencil.
DiChiara considers herself fortunate to be able to paint full time and shares her love of watercolor through classes that she teaches at the Renaissance Center in Litchfield. Her work is on display at the PS Gallery in Litchfield, Home Fine Arts and Antiques in Granby and on Cape Cod.
The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for more than 25 years.
More than 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fall fashion show and luncheon.
