GULF WAR VETERANS DAY — to be held on February 28, at Coe Memorial Park rain or shine at 12:30 p.m. If weather is inclement, the event will take place in the Civic Center. The public, current and retired military personnel, all veterans — especially those who served in the Gulf War or the continuing War on Terrorism, are invited. Anyone with a damaged American flag — torn, faded, or otherwise damage — may bring turn them in to be properly disposed of. The event is sponsored by the Torrington Veterans Support Committee and its member groups.

CIVITAN CLUB FUNDRAISER: A “Dining for a Cause” fundraiser to benefit the Civitan Club Flag Fund will be held March 7, 5-9 p.m. at Ninety Nine Restaurant, 1 South Main St. Torrington. The will receive 15 percent of each guest check, excluding tax and gratuity. Proceeds will benefit a flag fund and veterans tribute project to purchase U.S. flags for installation on graves of local veterans.
