Rangers put 3B Beltre on DL
Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is on the disabled list again with another leg issue. The Rangers put the 39-year-old Beltre on the 10-day DL on Tuesday. That was a day after he pulled up on his way to first base when reaching on his 3,075th career hit in a loss to Oakland. This is the fifth time since joining the Rangers in 2011 that he has gone on the DL with leg issues . ... Veteran outfielder Melky Cabrera will report to extended spring training after signing a minor league contract with the Indians. Manager Terry Francona says the 33-year-old Cabrera will spend approximately 7-to-10 days at the team’s complex in Arizona before joining a minor league team . ... The Orioles put infielder Tim Beckham on the 10-day disabled list with a left groin strain. Beckham is considering surgery to correct the problem, which could keep him sidelined for at least six weeks . ... Brewers first baseman Eric Thames will be out at least a couple of months after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb during Tuesday night’s victory in Kansas City. Right-hander Brandon Woodruff was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs to replace him on the roster . ... The Athletics acquired righthander Wilmer Font from the Dodgers for a minor league pitcher. The Dodgers got lefty Logan Salow in the deal. Font was 0-2 with an 11.32 ERA in six relief appearances for the Dodgers before he was designated for assignment on Monday.
