FALLS VILLAGE — Rose Buckens and Jo Ann Jaacks, who have built, painted and planted more than 50 Little Free Libraries in the Litchfield Hills, will join the David M. Hunt Library as they host a grand opening for their British-themed Little Free Library at Toymakers Café at 85 Main St. in Falls Village, on May 19, at 4 p.m., according to a news release from event organizers.

This library is a replica of the iconic British red phone booth, which was fabricated by local crafter Joseph Brien.

The theme was inspired by Toymakers Café owners Ann and Greg Bidou’s love for all things Anglophile down to their Union Jack logo and their passion for corgis.

As with all little free libraries, now more than 70,000 globally, it will be filled with free books for the everyone. The event is free and takes place on the day of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding at Windsor Castle.

There will be a suitable spread of classic British tea favors including cucumber and egg sandwiches, cottage pie, treacle tart and Earl Grey tea. Guests are encouraged to get in the spirit by dressing in hats, fascinators and Harry Potter ties.
