NORFOLK — The Shinolas present “Songs of Hope & Resolve” to unite and uplift people — a musical catharsis in the face of constant uncertainty, Sunday at Infinity Music Hall in Norfolk. This afternoon concert begins at 2:30 p.m.

Sponsored by IndivisibleCT with the help of other grassroots groups, this concert will bring together musicians from across the spectrum, as well as help rally resistance groups from across the state. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local action groups, and a portion will help fund future IndivisibleCT actions.

The line-up for the show includes: Jonathan Edwards, Jon Pousette-Dart, Mark Erelli, Christine Ohlman, The Neilds and Tangsauce.

The Pousette-Dart Band, led by Jon Pousette-Dart carved a place in the landscape of American music in the 1970’s. They were a mainstay of album radio, a favorite on the college circuit, and became one of the busiest touring groups in the US working with such acts as The Byrds, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, The Eagles, James Taylor, The J. Geils Band, Eddie Money,

Manfred Mann, Jonathan Edwards, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Emmylou Harris, Gary Wright, Robert Palmer, Randy Newman, Journey, Billy Joel, NRBQ, and many more including the now famous Frampton Comes Alive tour, and the progressive Yes Fragile tour — playing arenas from Coast to Coast.

While the original group disbanded in the early 80’s, Jon kept performing with original drummer Eric Parker and continued

writing and producing into the 90’s, when he returned to Nashville to begin recording again on his own. He turned out four more solo albums and recently released “Anti-Gravity”, a cohesive selection of his best songs to date. He has co-written with some of the finest writers in the country including, Darrell Scott, Gary Nicholson, Jaime Kyle, Kostas, John Bohlinger, Angelo, Sally Barris, Fred Knobloch, and Angela Kaset. Two videos from the latest release, “Heaven is Here” and “Who I Am,” are featured on YouTube and here at the site. Jon is working both solo, duo, and

with his tight knit band with Paul Socolow on bass, Eric Parker on drums, and Jim Chapdelaine, with whom he co-produced his last release “Anti-Gravity”. Learn more at http://www.pousettedart.com

Jonathan Edwards, an artist who measures his success by his ability to attract and take good care of an audience for four decades, maintains that it is the feedback he receives after his shows that keeps him going. “It is really gratifying to hear [someone say], ‘Your stuff has meant a lot to me over the years.’” The “stuff” he’s referring to is a highly respected

repertoire that includes such classics as “Honky Tonk Stardust Cowboy,” “Sometimes,” “One Day Closer,” “Don’t Cry Blue,” “Emma,” “Everybody Knows Her,” “Athens County,” and everyone’s favorite ode to putting a good buzz on, “Shanty.” And then, of course, there’s the anthemic “Sunshine (Go Away Today),” that fierce proclamation of protest and independence that resonated with thousands and thousands of frustrated and angry young men and women when it was first released in 1971. Almost 40 years later, at show after show, the song continues to be

embraced by faithful followers and new fans alike.

Since 1971, Jonathan has released 15 albums, including Blue Ridge, his standard-setting collaboration with bluegrass favorites the Seldom Scene, and Little Hands, his collection of children’s songs, which was honored with a National Library Association award.
