Finally Home collection drive set
TORRINGTON — Northwest Connecticut’s Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with United Way of Northwest Connecticut, will present the first “Finally Home” collection drive on Saturday, June 2, at 150 Price Road, Winsted.
Students with the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce leadership program teamed up to plan and complete a self-directed, community-oriented service project.
This year, Team 3 created “Finally Home” in a community effort to provide new/gently used household items including furniture, small appliance, linens, non-perishable food donations, etc. to assist those individuals and families transitioning from the homeless shelter to permanent housing.
In 2017, FISH/Friends in Service to Humanity of Northwest Connecticut in Torrington placed more than 70 families from shelter into permanent housing. There is a significant demand for household items to help individuals get back on their feet.
Tax receipts can be provided upon request. Additional details can be found at https:// www.northwestunitedway.org, or on Facebook by searching “Finally Home” under Events.
To donate items or volunteer, contact the United Way of Northwest Connecticut, 333 Kennedy Drive, Suite R101, P.O. Box 1001, Torrington, CT 06790, 860-489-4131, or Owen@northwestunitedway.org.
