WOODBURY — A 16year-old boy has been arrested in connection with vehicle break-ins and a stolen car in Woodbury, police said in a release.

On May 29 at approximately 1 p.m., troopers and officers from the Woodbury Resident State Trooper’s Office were conducting a follow-up investigation into stolen cars and vehicle break-ins that occurred in Woodbury and Bethlehem during the overnight hours on May 24, according to the release.

Through the course of the investigation, the 16year-old was identified as a suspect and police records indicated that there was an active arrest warrant for him for first-degree failure to appear on numerous burglary and larceny charges. He was facing a total of 12 felony charges, police said.

While searching for the suspect in his Waterbury neighborhood, a stolen 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee was found parked in front of the his house, police said. That car had been reported stolen out of Westport earlier in the day, according to the release.

As troopers and officers spoke with neighbors, two males came out of the suspect’s home. One of them appeared to be the 16-yearold suspect, police said.

When they saw uniformed police officers, the two males fled on foot in opposite directions, police said.

“In an effort to apprehend the 16-year-old subject, an officer deployed his Taser, striking the juvenile suspect,” police said in the release.

He was then taken into custody and identified as the subject of the arrest warrant, police said.

The juvenile was taken to Troop L in Litchfield, where he was held in lieu of $15,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court today.

During a search of the suspect’s home, additional items of evidence were recovered implicating him in other crimes, including the theft of a Subaru Outback from Woodbury on May 24, according to police. Additional arrests are expected, according to the release.
