Torrington’s first strawberry festival set for Saturday
TORRINGTON — The Torrington Arts & Culture Commission, in partnership with the Torrington Parks & Recreation Department, is presenting its first Torrington Strawberry Festival on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Coe Memorial Park.
This event will feature an arts and craft fair, food trucks, and of course, strawberry shortcake, along with other strawberry delights including strawberry rhubarb pie, provided by Torrington’s Good Company Coffee House Bakery. Strawberry ice cream sundaes, made locally by Peaches & Cream ice cream, will also be available.
Food trucks on hand will include Zach and Lou’s Barbeque, Lucky Dog, Comfort Food, Pile High Paninis and Peter Doda’s Ice Cream Truck.
Family activities will also be provided, including the popular Main Street Marketplace Express train, offering rides for children and adults around the park for $2 per ride, plus a special appearance by Strawberry Shortcake, greeting children all day long. There will also be opportunity to win a prize package filled with local merchant gift certificates by guessing how many strawberry jelly beans are in the jar, located at the ACT booth.
“The ACT commission has been working hard over the past several months to deliver another great event for our community. I encourage everyone to come and enjoy the vendors and other event offerings and enjoy the beautiful spring setting of Coe Memorial Park” said Mayor Elinor Carbone.
Admission to the Torrington Strawberry Festival is free. The rain date for this event is Sunday, June 10.
