Center for Healthy Aging opens 10th location
TORRINGTON — As life expectancy increases, greater numbers of individuals need new services and resources to help them age well. The U.S. Census Bureau projects that by 2060, 92 million Americans will be 65 or older.
To connect families and their older loved ones with resources and support systems to achieve the optimum quality of life, Hartford HealthCare developed a groundbreaking Center for Healthy Aging model in 2004. Fourteen years later, Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging opened its tenth location on Aug. 6 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, 540 Litchfield St., Torrington.
The center will serve residents of Litchfield County area and is located just inside the hospital’s Outpatient Entrance.

Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging resource coordinators and dementia specialists work with families and caregivers in person, by phone or in their own home. Free comprehensive assessments can also be performed to determine the appropriate level and type of care to best support the individual, caregivers and family members, even those who live far away. Resources may include in-home care, medical alert technology, home modifications, state programs and veterans services.
Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging has nine additional locations: Bloomfield, Hartford, Meriden, New Britain, Newington, Southington (two offices), Vernon and Willimantic.
