Fundraiser set in Tapping Reeve

LITCHFIELD — Guests can join the Litchfield Historical Society on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 6-9 p.m. for the annual Fall Fundraiser, held to benefit the organizati­on’s education mission.

The event will be held in the newly opened Tapping Reeve Meadow, behind the Tapping Reeve House & Litchfield Law School.

The evening will feature a signature drink provided by the Litchfield Distillery, live music from Switch Factory, and delectable small plate offerings from The Pantry.

A special silent auction will help raise money for the education programs hosted by the Historical Society, including field trips from local schools, offsite programs for neighborho­od partners, community events, monthly lectures and walking tours, and craft and game afternoons for families.

The silent auction includes an exclusive 2-week stay at the private home of Alexander and Jo-Anne van den Berg-Ohms in Mensingewe­er, Netherland­s The home sleeps 6 and comes with all the amenities needed to have a great visit to the Netherland­s.

Bidders can also enjoy a delicious lunch and informal discussion about Litchfield artist Adelaide Deming, while her work is on display for one day only at the home of Frank Fontana and Andrew Becker. Or attend a cocktail event at the Tallmadge House, with a presentati­on by Rachel Smith, a Tallmadge history expert from the office of the Connecticu­t State Historian at the University of Connecticu­t.
