WASHINGTON — Hollister House Garden will open its doors for the annual Rare and Unusual Plant Sale, Saturday and Sunday. Garden enthusiasts can discover rare plants from vendors from around the greater northeast at the sale.

From local Connecticutbased nurseries, to specialty nurseries from Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island, 11 vendors will be on the premises sharing their plants for sale. Interested plant-sale attendees can choose from two options: Early buying on Saturday, which includes garden admission and cocktail party for $50 per person from 4 to 6 p.m., or the all-day plant sale, $10 per person (includes admission to the garden) on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“The annual fall plant sale offers perfect timing for ideal autumnal garden planting, as many gardeners know the secret to Spring garden planning is to plant in the fall to allow for plants to gather strength over the winter,” said George Schoellkopf of Hollister House Garden. “We are delighted to offer convenient one-stop shopping access to our select group of specialist growers who offer the latest hybrids in addition to hard-to-find classic shrubs, trees and herbaceous perennials. Our goal is inspire gardeners with a tour of our grounds and an opportunity to envision and purchase high quality plantings for their very own gardens.”

The 11 nurseries that will be on premises for the plant sale are Broken Arrow Nursery, Battle Hill Forge, Cricket Hill Garden, Falls Village Flower Farm, Garden Vision Epimediums, issima, McCue Gardens, Meadowbrook Gardens, O’Brien Nurserymen, Rare Find Nursery, and Shakespeare’s Garden. “In conjunction with their talk for Garden Study weekend, issima is thrilled to offer gardeners a number of unusual hardy plants for the garden that also make great cut flower fodder. Together with new introductions from Europe and the UK, hybrids selected at their Little Compton Nursery are sure to pique curiosity and test plant ID skills” said Taylor Johnston of issima.
