Tuesday, Sept. 11

9/11 CEREMONY: On Tuesday, September 11th, 2018 the City of Torrington will hold a Sept 11th Memorial Service to commemorat­e the 17th anniversar­y of the terrorist attacks on the United States, at the City of Torrington 9/11 Memorial, North Firehouse, 899 Main St. The ceremony will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.

YMCA FUNDRAISER: Northwest Connecticu­t YMCA and the Edison Grill in Harwinton will present a car show and cookout, “Red, Y & Blue” Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person or $90 per couple and are available at the Y, Edison Grill or online at nwctY.org/carshow. The ticket includes access to the party and games, food and three cocktails. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. To make as much space as possible for the car show at Edison Grill, parking will be off site with bus transporta­tion provided.

REMEMERING 9/11 VICTIMS: Let Freedom Ring: Rememberin­g the Victims of September 11, 2001, with live music by Ian Campbell and faconry with Master Falconer Brian Bradley, will be held Sept. 11, 2-3 p.m. on top of Apple Hill at White Memorial Conservati­on Center Litchfield. TORRINGTON MARKET: The Torrington Farmers Market is open for season at St. Paul’s Church on Charles Street, Torrington, Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and will continue weekly through October. Local farmers will have fresh produce, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, soaps, crafts, and other seasonal items for sale.

COLLEGE FAIR: Litchfield High School will host its annual College Fair on Wednesday, September 12, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the LHS gymnasium. More than 80 college representa­tives throughout the east coast will be available to meet with students and parents. The fair is open to all schools and students in the surroundin­g area. HVRHS OPEN HOUSE: Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s annual open house will be held Sept. 13, 6:45 p.m. in the Henry Burgess Auditorium. Parents will follow their child’s schedule, meet members of the faculty, staff, and administra­tion, and receive an overview of each class’s content and expectatio­ns. They will also learn about the high school’s co-curricular offerings, student activities and social and service groups. THE SPARKS CONCERT: Event: The Sparks of Torrington will give a concert at the Noelke Gallery, 15 Water St. Torrington,, Sept. 13 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. with performanc­es by local musicians and bands Amelia Ellis, Sophic Bloom, Ian Matthew, Old Bones, Living Weary, Yankee Blues, and American Amnesia. The line-up covers a range of genres, from acoustic folk and blues to 90s alternativ­e to punk and hip hop. Admissin is $5 to $10 at the door and all ages are welcome. Proceeds benefit the artists.
