EARTH FILM SERIES: Church of Christ Congregational in Goshen is launching its new season of the Earth Film Series Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m., showing the documentary “Earthship,” which explores an experiment in New Mexico that attempts to imagine a sustainable society. The Earth Film Series is a project of the 4/1 Earth Ministry of the church. Films range in topics from water to soil to climate and include films on children experiencing nature and on celebrated environmentalists Rachel Carson and Aldo Leopold. The tag sale will offer everything from furniture to antiques, jewelry to linens, books to lamps, tools to toys. Church ladies will sell their famous homemade jams, jellies, pickles, relish, and baked goods. Door prizes feature items donated by local area merchants. This year there are a cord of firewood from each of two donors. A “Seasonal Celebration” room will have decorations for any occasion. Cash or checks are accepted. Don’t forget to have a gourmet hot dog from Salty Dog.

The walk leads to a hidden monument marking the birthplace of Charles Finney, famous in his day as the father of American revivalism and president of Oberlin College. HEADSTONE CEREMONY: The Riverton American Legion Post No. 159 will conduct a ceremony to unveil a government white marble headstone for WW I soldier Leon Starr Bunnell, who was buried in an unmarked grave in the Riverside Cemetery, 87 River Road, Pleasant Valley, on Jan 5, 1959.
