Cartoberfest participants welcome
NEW HARTFORD — Cartoberfest was born 13 years ago and has become an annual event on the first Sunday in October, or the first sunny Sunday in October, run by volunteers both from the New Hartford Fire Department and Time Was Garage.
All proceeds support the fire department, and the event draws hundreds of spectators and cars every year. No judging is held.
The show features hot rods, custom cars, classic cars, antique cars, motorcycles, and trucks.
Thanks to Time Was Garage, the show draws from a huge community of car enthusiasts.
Thanks to local support, the show also offers a wide array of raffle prizes donated by local businesses. This year, Cartoberfest will be held Oct. 7, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hurley Park along the Farmington River at 37 Greenwoods Road.
There will be dash plaques, door prizes including NASCAR tickets to Dover, Charlotte and New Hampshire races, theater tickets for Bridge Street Live, the Warner Theater and Infinity Hall, and gift certificates from local businesses such as the Saybrook Fish House and Georges/Olive Bar.
The show also features food and live entertainment by the Whiskey Rebels. And of course, there’s a rose for the ladies, show organizers said.
