Pianist Timothy Wallace to perform
WASHINGTON — Pianist and composer Timothy Alexandre Wallace of Torrington will perform a solo recital at 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at Gunn Memorial Library in Washington.
Wallace’s program, “A Matter of Interpretation,” will feature works by composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Frederic Chopin, Fran Liszt and Maurice Ravel.
The concert will include the following music: “Chromatic Fantasy” and “Fugue by Bach, Un Sospiro (from Trois Etudes de Concert)” by Schubert, “Scherzo in B flat minor” by Chopin and “D’Eauby” by Ravel.
As part of his program, Wallace will provide interactive moments with the audience, focusing on “interpretations of music — what an artist can do.”
Wallace has had a rich and rewarding career as a pianist and composer, having performed nationally as a soloist and performed, composed and arranged music for ballet companies, theaters, schools and churches. Additionally, he is a private piano instructor with more than 30 years of experience teaching students of all ages.
As an accompanist, he has worked with choral ensembles and dance companies, including serving as principal accompanist for the Dallas Ballet Conservatory and Nutmeg Ballet, and as staff accompanist for the Joffrey Ballet Workshop in San Antonio.
Wallace has served as music director for theaters, including a national tour with Theatre Three, Dallas. A resident of Torrington, his compositions include both vocal and instrumental works. Visit www.studio59 live.com to learn more about his work.
