‘Wine, Beer & Cheer’ benefit on tap

NEW BRITAIN — Wine, Beer & Cheer, a wine and craft beer tasting fundraiser conducted by the Connecticu­t Junior Republic’s New Britain community programs and supported by local merchants and craft breweries, will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 6 p.m .to 9 p.m. at the Joseph Bianca Ballroom, 13 Beaver St., New Britain.

Guests can enjoy an array of fine wines and craft beers, delicious compliment­ary fare, live music by Tom Parkes and Emily Clausi, and shopping opportunit­ies that include wine and craft beers (stock up for the holidays) and a silent auction of treasures to bid on and take home that night.

Participat­ing breweries include 2nd Bridge Brewing Company, 5 Churches Brewing, Alvarium Beer Company, Black Hog Brewing Company and New England Brewing Company. Wines for the evening will be curated by The Liquor Depot of New Britain.

According to Ana Flamengo, Connecticu­t Junior Republic director of community programs, all proceeds from this event will be used to provide crisis care and wraparound services to help boys, girls and families served by CJR programs in New Britain. The Junior Republic’s New Britain site, at 145 South Whiting Street, serves nearly 300 boys and girls, ages 5 to 19, and their families annually.

Admission will be $30 in advance and $35 on the night of the event. The deadline to purchase tickets in advance is Oct. 26.
