HARVEST BUFFET: The community is invited to participate in the Torrington Woman’s Club’s annual Harvest Buffet fundraiser, set for Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Marino’s Restaurant, 12 Pinewoods Road, Torrington. The buffet starts at 5 p.m. and is followed by a wine raffle. Reservations are available by calling Marie at 860-489-6189 no later than Tuesday, Oct. 16. Tickets are $30 and will not be available for purchase at the door.
BINGO: St. Maron’s Church, 613 Main St., Torrington, holds bingo games every Monday and Friday. Doors open at 4 p.m. Early bingo beings at 6 p.m., with progressive jackpots and food for sale.
BOOK DISCUSSION: Evening Book Discussion at the Harwinton Library, Oct. 15, 7 p.m. This month's book is “The Night Strangers” by Chris Bohjalian. Drop in.
PARENT FOCUS GROUP: Region 1 school district’s Regional Task Force, Parent Focus Group, will meet Oct. 15, 6 p.m. in Room 133, Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Falls Village. All parents invited for a frank conversation about the kinds of activities they know to be happening outside of school that may not be recorded or reflected in the data.

RESCHEDULED: CARS FOR KIDS: Because of the wet weather, Valley Collector Car Club (VCCC), and the Litchfield Hills Historical Automobile Club (LHHAC) will collaborate with the Connecticut Junior Republic (CJR) have postponed the 6th Annual Cars for Kids Automobile Show until Sunday, Oct. 21, 10 a.m.-3 pm. Exhibitors can arrive at 8 a.m, $10 fee, spectators, $5 per car. TORRINGTON MARKET: The Torrington Farmers Market is held St. Paul’s Church on Charles Street, Torrington, Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and will continue weekly through October. Local farmers will have fresh produce, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, soaps, crafts, and other seasonal items for sale.

HOUSATONIC CAMERA CLUB: “From Glaciers to Granite: Acadia National Park- A Centennial Celebration” will be presented at the next Housatonic Camera Club meeting, Oct. 16, 7 p.m. The presentation highlights the park and years of photography to produce the national award-winning book of similar title by Rizzoli Publishers.
