-

WATERBURY — The CT Women Marines Association and the Young Marines from the Brass City Detachment in Waterbury partnered together Dec. 18 to present a check for $2,200, along with 4 bins of new socks and t-shirts for the veterans.

Vince Santelli, CEO/ Executive Director for “Homes for the Brave” in Bridgeport, was delighted to receive the gifts on behalf of the residents, according to a statement.

The Connecticut chapter for the WMA was one of the beneficiaries of the Connecticut Veterans Day Patriot Race, which was held in November.

The Young Marines took on the mission of setting up a booth and collecting new socks and t-shirts at the race event for the homeless veterans in Connecticut. The WMA chapter also collected 8 cases of personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies from the shelter’s Christmas wish list to donate along with their $2,200 check.

The Homes for the Brave facility, which accommodates 42 males in the main building and 15 females in a separate facility, provides the housing and services necessary to help homeless and transitioning veterans return to a productive and meaningful life.

Their vision is to provide a model to enable these veterans to attain safe, affordable housing, meaningful life activity and a livable income so that they may return to a productive and meaningful life.
