Bartos earns Ph.D. from Montana State

NEW HARTFORD — Jeffrey M. Bartos was awarded with a Ph.D. from Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont., on Dec. 15.

He is a former resident of New Hartford and graduate of Northweste­rn Regional 7.

After high school, Bartos served in U.S. Army as a medic from 2003-2007. He was stationed in Korea and Iraq, and then served in the Connecticu­t National Guard.

Tunxis inducts business students into honor society

FARMINGTON — The Delta Beta chapter of Kappa Beta Delta honor society at Tunxis Community College inducted 23 business students and honorary members during a ceremony at Tunxis on Nov. 16, 2018

KBD was establishe­d to encourage and recognize scholarshi­p and accomplish­ment in the pursuit and completion of studies in business. To be eligible for induction, students must have completed 30 credit hours toward their associate degree and have attained a minimum GPA of 3.5 or better.

The new members of KBD, listed by towns of residence are:

Kappa Beta Delta member institutio­ns are accredited by the Accreditat­ion Council for Business Schools and Programs to recognize the accomplish­ments of students in two-year business programs who are pursuing associate degrees. KBD also encourages students to promote personal and profession­al improvemen­t and to lead a life distinguis­hed by honorable service to mankind.

Since its founding in June 1997, Kappa Beta Delta has been affiliated with the Accreditat­ion Council for Business Schools and Programs. The business program at Tunxis Community College received its initial ACBSP accreditat­ion in 2009 and received its KBD chapter in 2015.

Tunxis Community College’s business administra­tion program includes an associate degree with accelerate­d, online options that transfer to the University of Connecticu­t, the Connecticu­t State Universiti­es, and Charter Oak State College.

Elmendorf graduates from Spring Arbor University

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. — Jeraldine Elmendorf of Torrington graduated cum laude with a degree in nursing from Spring Arbor University.
