Bar­tos earns Ph.D. from Mon­tana State

NEW HART­FORD — Jef­frey M. Bar­tos was awarded with a Ph.D. from Mon­tana State Uni­ver­sity in Boze­man, Mont., on Dec. 15.

He is a for­mer res­i­dent of New Hart­ford and grad­u­ate of North­west­ern Re­gional 7.

Af­ter high school, Bar­tos served in U.S. Army as a medic from 2003-2007. He was sta­tioned in Korea and Iraq, and then served in the Con­necti­cut Na­tional Guard.

Tunxis in­ducts busi­ness stu­dents into honor so­ci­ety

FARM­ING­TON — The Delta Beta chap­ter of Kappa Beta Delta honor so­ci­ety at Tunxis Com­mu­nity Col­lege in­ducted 23 busi­ness stu­dents and hon­orary mem­bers dur­ing a cer­e­mony at Tunxis on Nov. 16, 2018

KBD was es­tab­lished to en­cour­age and rec­og­nize schol­ar­ship and ac­com­plish­ment in the pur­suit and com­ple­tion of stud­ies in busi­ness. To be el­i­gi­ble for in­duc­tion, stu­dents must have com­pleted 30 credit hours to­ward their as­so­ciate de­gree and have at­tained a min­i­mum GPA of 3.5 or bet­ter.

The new mem­bers of KBD, listed by towns of res­i­dence are:

Burling­ton: Jil­lian Bogli Thomas­ton: Danielle Duffy Win­sted : Shi­anne Vance Tunxis di­rec­tor of stu­dent ac­tiv­i­ties Christo­pher LaPorte, and for­mer TCC staff mem­ber and busi­ness pro­gram alumna Kather­ine Ford-Droney, were also in­ducted as hon­orary mem­bers.

Kappa Beta Delta mem­ber in­sti­tu­tions are ac­cred­ited by the Ac­cred­i­ta­tion Coun­cil for Busi­ness Schools and Pro­grams to rec­og­nize the ac­com­plish­ments of stu­dents in two-year busi­ness pro­grams who are pur­su­ing as­so­ciate de­grees. KBD also en­cour­ages stu­dents to pro­mote per­sonal and pro­fes­sional im­prove­ment and to lead a life distin­guished by hon­or­able ser­vice to mankind.

Since its found­ing in June 1997, Kappa Beta Delta has been af­fil­i­ated with the Ac­cred­i­ta­tion Coun­cil for Busi­ness Schools and Pro­grams. The busi­ness pro­gram at Tunxis Com­mu­nity Col­lege re­ceived its ini­tial ACBSP ac­cred­i­ta­tion in 2009 and re­ceived its KBD chap­ter in 2015.

Tunxis Com­mu­nity Col­lege’s busi­ness ad­min­is­tra­tion pro­gram in­cludes an as­so­ciate de­gree with ac­cel­er­ated, on­line op­tions that trans­fer to the Uni­ver­sity of Con­necti­cut, the Con­necti­cut State Univer­si­ties, and Char­ter Oak State Col­lege.

SPRING AR­BOR, Mich. — Jeral­dine El­men­dorf of Tor­ring­ton grad­u­ated cum laude with a de­gree in nurs­ing from Spring Ar­bor Uni­ver­sity.
