HARTFORD — The Connecticut Horticultural Society and North East Expos will present “The Good, the Bad, the Ugly: Getting Toads, Birds and Bugs to Eat Your Garden Thugs,” Feb. 21 at 6 p.m., during the CT Flower & Garden Show, CT Convention Center, Hartford

“Each toad you invite into your garden will eat its own weight in insect pests every evening. (Toads work the night shift; eating problem pests while you sleep.) Mike McGrath will show you how to get these priceless predators to prey on your problems. He’ll also explain how to attract beneficial and beautiful birds, bees and butterflies in this fast-paced workshop designed to help you bring Nature’s finest pollinators and pest-eaters to your property,” members said in a statement.

McGrath is host of the public radio show “You Bet Your Garden,” garden editor for WTOP News Radio in Washington, D.C, and a contributing editor and columnist for GreenPrints magazine. He is the former Editor-in-Chief of Organic Gardening magazine and the author of books on tomatoes, compost and kitchen gardening.

CT Hort and North East Expos are partnering to present McGrath at this year’s CT Flower & Garden Show. This seminar is free and open to attendees of the show as well as members of CT Hort. For additional information, visit www.cthort.org
