Sliders moving from West Hartford to Torrington
TORRINGTON — Sliders Grill & Bar, an awardwinning sports bar, known for wings, craft beer and live sports, is moving its West Hartford location to downtown Torrington.
According to a news release from the company, “Sliders in Berlin is only 6 miles away from Sliders in West Hartford. The owners are confident their West Hartford customers will unite in the Berlin location after the move. With a move to Torrington, Sliders will now be able to better serve a broader audience and expand their very popular brand into the northwest hills region.”
The new restaurant will be located at 84 Main Street, the former Backstage Restaurant, next to the Warner Theater, and is 5,900 square feet with a multi-year lease. The building has “amazing bones” and was built in 1803.
Lisa Marcantonio, head of marketing and recruiting for Sliders, said, “Although we love everything about West Hartford and will miss this booming community, we are very excited to bring CT’s best wings, beer and sports to people who haven’t been able to experience Sliders before.”
All of the West Hartford staff will be placed in nearby locations. The West Hartford location’s last day of operations was Feb. 3; the Torrington location is slated to open April 1.

WASHINGTON — In 2018, Klemm handled the highest real estate sales in Bethlehem; Cornwall; Falls Village; Lake Waramaug; Litchfield; Morris; Middlebury; Warren; Washington; Woodbury; Amenia, NY; Claverack, NY and Taghkanic, NY.
The highest sale for 2018 in Litchfield County was in Warren with an asking price of $8.5 million. This was the second highest sale ever in Warren. Klemm Real Estate represented both the buyer and seller.
The highest sale on Lake Waramaug in New Preston 2018 had an asking price of $1.595. Klemm also handled highest land sale in Dutchess County, NY, which was a property in Amenia NY with an asking price of $5.76 million. Further, Klemm handled the highest sale in Columbia County, NY in Taghkanic, NY with an asking price of $4.79 million.

Thomaston Savings Bank names new CFO
THOMASTON — Rebekah Stokes was named senior vice president, CFO of Thomaston Savings Bank following the retirement of former CFO, Mark Blum.
Stokes started as a teller with the bank in November 2001. She held a variety of positions within retail banking and joined the Finance team in 2008. In 2016, Stokes was promoted to her most recent role of vice president, senior financial officer.
“Mrs. Stokes is the ideal candidate to succeed Mark. She has proven herself as a key member of our team and a strong leader in our Finance department. I am confident she will do an excellent job in her new position,” said Stephen Lewis, Thomaston Savings Bank President and Chief Executive Officer.
Stokes earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Post University and her MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Connecticut. She is a graduate of the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking, the Connecticut Bankers Association School of Finance and Management, and holds a certificate from the Wharton School of Leadership.
Stokes is actively involved in her community. She serves as a member of the Finance Committee and is a room parent at St. Mary Magdalen School in Oakville, and sits on the Board of Directors for the Bristol Boys & Girls Club. She resides in Plymouth with her husband, two children and her mother-in-law.
Hartford HealthCare appoints director of Breast Surgery Quality and Research
HARTFORD — The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute announced the appointment of Niamey Wilson, MD, FACS, director of Breast Surgery Quality and Research and breast surgery division leader with the Hartford HealthCare Medical Group.
Dr. Wilson grew up in Manhattan before attending Hamilton College where she majored in mathematics with a focus on topical theory. From there, she returned to New York, earning her medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. She then completed a general surgery residency and breast surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. While there, she was accepted into the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar Program and earned a master’s of science in health policy.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Wilson to our team of breast surgeons at Hartford HealthCare,” said Breast Program Director Dr. Patricia DeFusco. “She is a world-class physician with a keen awareness of what her patients need. As director of breast surgery quality and research, she will help us advance the work already being done to make the latest clinical trials available to our patients.”
In addition to her clinical and administrative work with Hartford Healthcare, Dr. Wilson is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Wilson’s goal is to merge personalized, attentive patient care with the highest quality and most rigorous approaches to breast cancer treatment. In that capacity, she is responsible for all breast surgery trials through the Cancer Institute’s charter membership in the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance.
She has authored book chapters on breast surgery and her research has focused on the determinants of surgical decision-making from both patient and provider perspectives. Her commitment to women’s health extends beyond the office. She has earned a national reputation as a role model for female physicians and an outspoken advocate for patient rights.

Alliance members now eligible for financial support
The Connecticut Community Nonprofit Alliance recently received a $5,000 donation from GoodWorks Financial Group in New Milford through Wheeler & Taylor Insurance, a GoodWorks Financial member.
