Winchester Grange holding strawberry fesitval

WINCHESTER — Winchester Grange presents its annual Strawberry Festival at the Grange Hall on the Green in Winchester Center (100 Newfield Road, Saturday, June 15, from 2:30 p.m. until sellout.

The festival features “the area's largest servings of strawberry shortcake, made with fresh strawberri­es, homemade biscuits, and freshly whipped cream,” members said.

The price is $6 for adults and $4 for a children's serving. Take-outs and items baked by the members of Winchester Grange will also be available. The Winsted Laurel Queen and King will also be on hand, making their first official appearance after being crowned.

From Winsted, take Route 263 to the Winchester Center Green. From Torrington, take Newfield Road (at the corner of Winsted Road and North Main Street) to the Winchester Center Green.

Formed Jan. 2, 1888, Winchester Grange is one of the largest Community Granges east of the Mississipp­i River in membership, and is extremely active in the Winchester Center community, holding numerous programs and events yearround.
