What to look for: This could be a battle of offense vs. defense… St. Joseph has been on a tear offensivel­y, scoring double-digit goals in its last four games, including 42 goals in three state playoff victories… East Lyme has held its opponents to single-digit scoring in all but four games this season… East Lyme’s defense is led by the 5-foot-2 senior co-captain Laura Agbayani, along with senior co-captain Sarah Christense­n, senior Erin Baumann, and sophomore Ellie McCoy. Senior Maya Rose gives the Vikings a veteran presence at goalie… Offensivel­y, East Lyme features senior Julia Bates, along with juniors Natalie Taylor and Abby Mountain… St. Joseph’s top offensive threat is Lily Ivanovich, a junior who put up eight points on four goals and four assists in a 14-10 semifinal upset of No. 1 Guilford… Senior co-captain Jettke Gray and senior goalie Erin Owens lead the defense, which also features junior Ann Nogueira.

You should know: St. Joseph is 8-0 against non-FCIAC opponents this season… The Cadets have never played in a state girls lacrosse final before, last reaching as far as the semifinals in the 2017 Class S tournament where they lost to Weston 7-5… East Lyme is playing in its first state final since 2006 when it defeated Amity 7-3 for the Div. II championsh­ip… The Vikings faced Class S finalist Stonington twice this season, winning 13-9 during the regular season, but losing 10-9 in the ECC semifinals.

What to look for: New Fairfield has been on a roll all season, with the only blemish to its record coming in an 11-10 loss to Staples in the penultimat­e game of the regular season… The Rebels are deep across the field and boast veteran leadership as well… Senior goalie Rachel Mikolay is a two-time All-State selection, who has started since her sophomore season… Mikolay was the MVP of the Class S final in 2017… New Fairfield’s defense also features senior Eileen Rattigan, along with junior Daria Bock and Danielle Hernandez… Junior Katelyn Sousa is the Rebels’ top offensive threat, with seniors Sydney Colesworth­y and Katelyn Nieves also key weapons… Stonington features senior Hannah Lamb, the school record-holder in career and single-season scoring… Lamb netted five goals to lead the Bears to a 9-5 win over No. 2 Canton in the semifinals… Seniors Emma Sabbadini and Kate Johnson are also keys to the offense, with Johnson handling the draws… Junior Isabella McCarthy will be at goalie and had seven saves in the semifinals.

You should know: New Fairfield has won 10 consecutiv­e tournament games and is bidding for a state championsh­ip threepeat… If the Rebels win their third straight state title, they would be only the second team to do so in girls lacrosse. Darien won three straight from 2007 to 2009, and five straight from 2013 to 2017… New Fairfield won its first 14 games before losing 11-10 to Staples on May 14. The Rebels have won seven straight since that loss… Stonington won the Class L title in 2014 but had not gotten past the quarterfin­als again until this season... Stonington knocked off No. 2 Canton 9-5 in the semifinals, scoring six unanswered goals in the second half to take over… Stonington defeated Class M finalist East Lyme 10-9 in the first round in the ECC semifinals, but lost to Woodstock Academy 11-9 in the final… The Bears have won nine of 10 games heading into the final.
