Italian classes begin in September

TORRINGTON — The Sullivan Senior Center, 88 East Albert St., Torrington, is offering two Italian classes.

Intermediate Italian will meet Tuesdays, 2:304:30 p.m., for 12 sessions, beginning Sept. 3 and ending Nov. 19. The course includes grammar, culture, conversation,and reading.

The required texts are: Italian Two and Three Years Workbook, 2nd edition, by Tursi and Cincinnato, (out of print) available online, and L’Italia è cultura —Letteratura, ISBN 9789606930072, by Maria Angela Cernigliaro.

Advanced Italian will meet on Fridays, 9:1511:15 a.m., for 14 sessions, beginning Sept. 13 and ending Dec. 6. The course includes advanced grammar, culture, conversation, andreading.

The required texts are: Da Capo by Moneti and Lazzarino, sixth edition, available online, and La giara by Luigi Pirandello, ISBN10: 8804359048/ISBN13 : 9788804359043.

Two Italian courses will be offered at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, South St., Litchfield.

Basic Italian II will begin on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2:454:45 p.m., to Dec. 12; no class Sept. 12. There will be 12 sessions. This course is designed for those who have had an introduction to basic grammar and conversation.

Intermediate Italian begins Sept. 13, 2019, 1:303:30 p.m., to Dec. 6. There will be 12 sessions. This course is for those with knowledge of the basic verb tenses and a strong vocabulary.
