Litchfield Woods celebrates turning 30
Health care center hosts open house to mark occasion
TORRINGTON — In honor of its 30th anniversary, Litchfield Woods Health Care Center held an open house Aug. 9.
The celebration was held at 255 Roberts Road. Four employees were recognized for 30 years of service to the center and its residents. The employees include Certified Nursing Assistants and clinical team members who have worked at the center since its doors opened 30 years ago. The open house was held in conjunction with the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce, of which the center is an active member.
Mark Loomis, the center’s longtime director of Admissions & Marketing, acted as emcee and hosted more than 100 guests from the community.

Woods being a great organization and member of the chamber, as well as an important part of the health care system for the Greater Northwestern part of the state.
Denise Quarles, administrator of Litchfield Woods, recognized the four employees who have been there since the beginning and shared Litchfield Woods’ appreciation for the support from the community and the Chamber over the years.
“Northwestern Connecticut and Torrington, in particular, have been so great to Litchfield Woods over
the past 30 years. Not only is there a familial atmosphere within our center for our patients and residents, the region itself has a familial atmosphere in everything it does,” she said.
Torrington Mayor Elinor Carbone presented a proclamation from the city to the center, as well as a proclamation from the Connecticut General Assembly on behalf of the Torrington legislative delegation.
Carbone recalled her fond memories of Litchfield Woods, including visiting friends and relatives at the center. She said her mother worked at Litchfield Woods for many years as a nurse.
The celebration also highlighted the great work being done by the McCall Center for Behavioral Health, a nonprofit organization working toward prevention, treatment and recovery for substance abuse and mental health issues. Maria Coutant Skinner, the center’s executive director, spoke about the center’s mission to provide comprehensive, integrated substance abuse and mental health treatment to help people lead healthier and more productive lives.
