ProAct Prescription Drug program available
TORRINGTON — Mayor Elinor Carbone is reminding residents of the ProAct Prescription Drug program that is available to them. The discount card, available at no cost, provides uninsured residents savings on various prescription medicines. Cards may be used by individuals who are uninsured, or who have prescriptions that may not be covered by their current program. Cards may not be used to discount prescription copayments or deductible charges.
The City of Torrington, through its membership with the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM), has already saved Torrington citizens more than $430,000 in prescription costs since joining CCM’s Discount Prescription Drug Card Program in January 2013. Cards are available in the Mayor’s office, and may also be printed from the internet at www.ctrxdiscountcard.com
Features and benefits of the card: Anyone can participate regardless of age or income. There is no cost to the municipality or to participating residents. The discount cards are widely accepted at all national chain pharmacies including CVS, Walgreens, WalMart, Stop and Shop, Big Y, Market 32, and most local independent pharmacies.. Discounts are also offered on other medical services including vision, hearing and Lasik services.
“I’m pleased to see that many Torrington residents have been able to benefit from this cost savings program” said Carbone in a statement. “I want to remind people that this program is available and certainly could be a help to those who are uninsured.”
