‘Flannel and jeans’ gala marks land trust’s 30th
BURLINGTON — The Burlington Land Trust is pleased to announce that it will celebrate the organization’s 30th anniversary, as well as honor the conservation legacy of three individuals for their significant contributions to local open space protection. The gala will be held Nov. 2, 610 p.m.
The event will take place at the Chippanee Country Club just across the Burlington town line in Bristol. The attire is “festive flannel and jeans.”
Along with a buffet dinner, teacup auction, music and dancing, there will be a presentation looking back at three decades of land conservation in Burlington, as well as an update on present and future plans.
Since its start as an allvolunteer organization in 1989, The Burlington Land Trust has helped to preserve more than fourhundred acres of diverse open space that features waterfalls, wildlife habitats and rare plants. These spaces offer opportunities for outdoor recreation and education.
“The legacy of the past thirty years is a close collaboration with likeminded organizations and local leaders to begin preserving the rural character of Burlington and educating residents about the natural world around us,” said Paul Rochford, president of the Burlington Land Trust, in a statement. “The next thirty years will be critical as we aim to expand our educational programs and accelerate the pace of the open space preservation.”
An awards ceremony will be held to honor two of the land trust’s past officers for their leadership and significant contributions to the organization’s success, plus one visionary whose beautiful land and home will eventually become a special gift to the people of Burlington.
