PLYMOUTH — A Terryville woman was seriously injured after being mauled by her own mastiffs, according to WTNH.

The attack happened Monday afternoon in her yard on Eastview Road in the Terryville section of town, WTNH said.

The woman is in serious condition at Waterbury Hospital after being taken there following the attack, reports said.

The four dogs which can weight up to 200 pounds was witnessed by someone who called 911 for help, reports said. When officers arrived the dogs were still on top of the woman while behaving aggressively, reports said.

Police shot at the animals after separating them, killing three.

A fourth dog is now under quarantine by animal control officials. The incident occurred at about the time school was getting out and officers feared the dogs would attack nearby children, reports said.

The dogs belonged to the woman, but it is unclear why they attacked her, officials said.

"It was a complete mauling," Sgt. Randy Foster told WTNH.

"It appears four of the mastiffs that were there took part in the attack." The woman's identity has not been released. Police are continuing to investigate.
