Thank you to those who made the Torrington Area Parkinson’s Support Group’s 2019 Walk in the Woods for Parkinson’s a smashing success.

Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corp. of Danbury, Thomaston Savings Bank and WalMart, were Platinum Donors, while Torrington Savings Bank, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital – a HHC Partner, Michael Magistrali and Associates, Keystone Place at Newbury Brook, TorringtonWinsted Rotary Club, and Bergamo Tax Services were Gold Sponsors, as were pharmaceutical companies: Lundbeck, Acadia, Amneal, Abbvie, and Medtronic.

In addition to the many generous businesses who made monetary contributions and offered gifts for our drawings, we’d like to acknowledge the participation of: Chase Jesperson of the Litchfield Volunteer Fire Department, Glen Royals from Royals’ Garage, 99 Restaurant, DaCapo’s Restaurant, tent mover Darryl Hoag, ice man Charlie Waiveris, face painter Katie Waiveris, duck crew Charlene Lauria and Joyce McAloon, first aider Becky Burcroff, Master of Ceremonies Brian Mattiello, CHH publicist Tim LeBouthillier, WZBG, WAPJ, tent setters Geoff and Claire Carlson, parking attendants Josephine Radocchio and Don Moore, Guy Friday Tim Calder, man with van Scott Dixon, tables and chairs by John Palmer, plant propagator Carol Pathe, City of Torrington, White Memorial Conservation Center, the Sullivan Senior Center, the helpful volunteers from Torrington High School Interact Club and Lewis Mills Girls’ Volleyball Team, and the many volunteers from within the Torrington Area Parkinson’s Support Group.

No one person could have completed the work of this day alone. But in community there is unity. With the many helping hands of dozens of contributors, the day went beyond our expectations in participation of friends of TAPSG, support of our exercise program, and donations to support PD research. We hope to see everyone at next year’s walk on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020.

Thank you to family and friends, to neighbors and coworkers, to each person who contributed to the success of the day.

Sue Pelchat, president, Torrington Area Parkinson’s Support Group
