SVNA has new hospice chaplain
SALISBURY — Rev. Dr. Martha Tucker has taken on the role of SVNA’s Hospice Chaplain previously held by Eileen Epperson.
Melanie McGinn, SVNA’s Hospice Director, said, “Although SVNA will greatly miss Eileen, we are also excited to bring Martha on board; she is a great addition to the SVNA team.”
Tucker was raised in Baltimore, MD, where she was baptized, confirmed, and married at the Church of the Redeemer. After graduating from Williams College she taught mathematics at Philips Academy Andover. She then went on to get a law degree from University of Pennsylvania and practiced litigation law at Pepper Hamilton and Scheetz in Philadelphia. While raising her three children, Tucker taught legal studies at Wharton, earned her PhD in Developmental Psychology at Penn, and became the Teaching Director at the Swarthmore Presbyterian Nursery Day School. After a call to the ordained priesthood, she attended the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA, where she focused on Liturgical Ethics/Sacramental Ethics. For four years she served as Associate Rector at St David’s Episcopal Church in Wayne PA. She now serves as Missional Priest in Charge at Christ Church Episcopal in Sharon. In her free time she enjoys reading, music, fly fishing, hiking, photography and grandmothering! She and her husband, David Hargrove, have three adult children, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, two granddaughters and a Corgi.
