H.O.R.S.E. to hold Valentine’s Day event
WASHINGTON — The Humane Organization Representing Suffering Equines, or H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut, now celebrating their 38th year, will hold a special Valentine’s Day Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Snow Date: Sunday, Feb. 16), said a release from the organization.
Starting at 10 a.m., there will be hourly tours of the farm where you can meet many of the wonderful horses, ranging from a 30-inch Mini to a 19-hand Belgian draft. The Tack Shop is open and filled with everything from blankets to bridles and grooming equipment. There will be a large assortment of baked goods, and many gift ideas, such as gift bags with stuffed animals, candy, handmade bracelets and necklaces, all from $5 to $25. H.O.R.S.E. will also offer $50 sponsorships, which include four visits where you can groom and hand walk the horse of your choice.
The featured horse is Coco, an adorable Appaloosa pony mare that was rescued last spring when her owner no longer wanted her. A former companion pony, Coco is 10 years old, very gentle and affectionate, and loves to be groomed and to go for hand walks. Coco is being trained to pull a cart, but she would also make a great family pet. Coco hopes you will visit her on Valentine’s Day so she can show you how special she is. Coco is available for adoption or sponsor.
All funds raised go directly to the horses, from feed and blankets to farrier, dental and veterinary expenses.
Celebrating its 38th year, H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization funded only by charitable contributions. It is located at 43 Wilbur Road, in Washington. For more information call 860-868-1960 or email horsectinfo@gmail.com.
