NCCC hosts Northwest Startup event

-

WINSTED — The next Northwest Startup event will be eld from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 12, at Whiting Mills Studios, 210 Holabird Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested at Eventbrite.com. The snow date is Feb. 19.

Five new startup businesses or non-profits, all in different stages of development, will kick-off the event by pitching their business ideas to the audience. Once all pitches are complete, each business owner will then have an opportunity to receive small group feedback and positive suggestions from attendee mentors as the participants circulate throughout the room.

“We expect this event to be as energetic and collaborative as the previous startup events,” said Jane Williams, Workforce Development Coordinator at NCCC. “There is always a lot of energy in the room from both the businesses pitching their ideas and the audience providing the mentoring. They are very successful events with a full house and we are eager to present these business ideas.”

Williams also said she is looking forward to holding the event at Whiting Mills Studios. “This space will provide a good backdrop for the energy generated at the event,” she said.

This event is presented by the Entrepreneurial Center of Northwest Connecticut and sponsored by TD Bank, who is generously providing refreshments for the event. John Fiorello, advisory board member of the Entrepreneurial Center and founder of the startup company, RecordME. co, will once again moderate the event.

A snow date has been scheduled for February 19 if the weather is inclement. Attendees should check the nwcc.edu website for reschedule information if warranted. Contact Jane Williams at jwilliams@nwcc.edu for more information on this event and the Entrepreneurial Center.
