FOOD DRIVE: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles Street, Torrington, is sponsoring a Contactless Drive-Thru Food Drive, to benefit clients of Friendly Hands Food Bank, 10 a.m.-noon, May 9 in the church parking lot. Food can be placed in your trunk or back seat; someone wearing a mask and gloves will retrieve it and add it to other donations. Members are encouraging fresh/frozen meat, dairy, veggies and fruit of any kind. Of course, nonperishables, paper products, and pet food are also accepted. Monetary donations are also welcome. Rain or shine; enter through the Charles Street driveway (across from Torringford School) and exit on Torringford West Street. VIRTUAL CAMP OPEN HOUSE: Camp Moe is holding a virtual open house online on May 9 on the camp’s Facebook page and on campmoe.org. From 1-3 p.m., director Stephanie Renzullo will be on the Zoom app and be available to families to answer questions and address any concerns. She’ll send a Zoom link to all registered families. Camp Moe is waiting for further decisions from Gov. Ned Lamont on whether the state will reopen in time for camp to begin. WATER MAIN FLUSHING: The Winsted Water Works will continue to flush water mains during the month of May in the following areas: Main St., South Main St., Torringford St., Moore Ave., Hinsdale Ave., Elm St., Holabird Ave., Walnut St., Oak St., Gilbert Ave., Stanton Ave., Waldron St., Florence St., Wallens St., Glendale Ave., Maloney Court, Colony Drive, North Main St., and all streets north of Main Street, for routine maintenance, between 8 a.m.-3 p.m. The flushing process may cause discolored water and reduction in pressure. The discoloration of water will be temporary. If the condition persists, call the Water Department at 860-379-4101.
