1 DEADLY SLASHING, ASSAULT
Willington: 9 a.m. Friday: Police responded to Mirtl Road in Willington on Friday and found two men seriously injured from an assault with an edged weapon. One of the victims, Ted DeMers, died from his injuries. The other man, John Franco, 80, a U.S. Navy vet who grew up in Trumbull, suffered serious injuries but his condition has stabilized, his wife said.
2 MANFREDONIA WANTED
Willington: Police said 23-year-old Peter Manfredonia, a 2015 Newtown High School grad and University of Connecticut student, was seen leaving the Willington crime scene and was considered the prime suspect.
3 POLICE RAID APARTMENT
Storrs: Connecticut State Police notified Manfredonia’s landlord that they searched his Storrs apartment. The woman said Manfredonia had been living there for four months and was the only name on the lease.
4 HOME INVASION
A Willington man called police to report a home invasion. Police said Manfredonia stole food, firearms and a truck from the homeowner, who was unharmed.
5 TRUCK FOUND
Derby: The stolen truck was found abandoned in Derby near Osbornedale State Park, setting off an extensive search in the area. Police discovered Manfredonia was seen on security video walking from the scene to a home about 1 mile away between 5 and 6 a.m. that morning.
6 HOMICIDE, ABDUCTION
The video footage led police to the Roosevelt Drive home of 23-year-old Nicholas Eisele, who was found dead from gunshot wounds to the head. Police said they also discovered Manfredonia kidnapped Eisele’s girlfriend and escaped in her 2016 black Volkswagen Jetta.
7 WOMAN UNHARMED
Knowlton Township, N.J.: The woman police say Manfredonia kidnappedcalled 911 from a rest stop off Interstate 80 in Knowlton Township, N.J., near the Pennsylvania border. Police said they found the woman unharmed with her car, but Manfredonia had already left.
8 UBER TO PENNSYLVANIA
East Stroudsburg, Pa: After police said Manfredonia took an Uber from the New Jersey rest stop into Pennsylvania, he was caught on video walking along railroad tracks in East Stroudsburg. Police released an image of him carrying a bag that they believe contained guns stolen during the Willington home invasion.
9 STOLEN SUV
East Stroudsburg, Pa: Pennsylvania State Police said a black Hyundai Santa Fe was stolen Monday night in the area where Manfredonia was last seen the day before in East Stroudsburg.
10 PIT STOP
Chambersburg, Pa.: Manfredonia was seen at a convenience store off Interstate 81 in Chambersburg, Pa. He was carrying a large bag and the stolen Hyundai Santa Fe was located Wednesday in the parking lot, police said.
11 UBER TO MARYLAND
Chambersburg, Pa.: After leaving the convenience store, Manfredonia was seen on video getting into an Uber, which drove him about 25 miles south to Hagerstown, Md.
12 CAPTURED
Hagerstown, Md.: Manfredonia was taken into custody without incident by the U.S. Marshals and Maryland’s Washington County Sheriff’s Office near a truck stop in Hagerstown, Md.
