Jasson headlines Yale recruiting class
The Yale men’s soccer program didn’t have to look too far to find a pair of highprofile recruits as part of the incoming class.
The 10-member class of high school recruits is highlighted by Greenwich’s Andres Jasson, a midfielder who is called, “one of the top 20 recruits in the nation and possibly the biggest recruit to ever come to Yale men’s soccer,” by Yale head coach Kylie Stannard.
Jasson has been a member of the U.S. U-15 and U-17 national teams. He led New York City Football Club to consecutive Boys’ Development Academy U-18/19 titles. He was named the Golden Boot Winner as the best player in the 2019 playoffs and ranked as the No. 19 player nationally by Top Drawer Soccer.
He will be joined in the class by Westport’s Olivier van Spaendonck who was the top goal scorer in the East Region during the 2018-19 season playing for Beachside SC.
Jonathan Seidman, a midfielder from Chappaqua, N.Y., will add to the family’s legacy with the Yale soccer program as his father Steven played for the Bulldogs in the 1980s and brother Will is already on the team.
Bulldogs will also add Quanah Brayboy and Sandor Pelle, midfielders from Phoenix, Matias Alberola, a midfielder who was part of three state championships at Kent Denver School, Kahveh Zahiroleslam, a forward from Saratoga, Calif., defenders Sam
Harshe from Dexter, Mich. and Jamie Orson from Atlanta and Chris Edwards, a goalkeeper from Fort Worth, Tex.
The class also includes Williams College transfer Jules Oberg, a midfielder who was a second team All-NESCAC selection in 2019.
Yale is coming off a 13-3-2 season and the Bulldogs began the 2019 campaign going undefeated in its first 11 matches en route to winning the outright Ivy League title for the first time since 1991.
