Hospital begins limited visitation

- Staff reports

SHARON — Sharon Hospital, part of Nuvance Health has begun limited visitation for inpatients, effective March 2.

Inpatients without suspected or confirmed COVID-19 disease are allowed one support person per day for up to four hours. Visitors must remain in the patient’s room for the entire visit and follow the hospital’s personal protective equipment guidelines, according to a statement. Daily visitation hours are from 2 to 6 p.m.

“The impact of family and patient separation has been top of mind throughout the pandemic — visitors play a key role in the healing process,” said hospital president Dr. Mark Hirko. “In support of this safe reintroduction, we urge the region to remain vigilant and wear a mask, limit group gatherings with nonhousehold members, wash your hands often, and stay home if you’re not feeling well.”

Visitation remains restricted in the emergency department and for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19, unless the patient is under age 21, a maternity patient or if extenuating circumstances apply.
