Carolyn Wonderland is celebrating the release of her new album with a live performance Friday at StageOne in Fairfield.

Wonderland has been called a fiery blues rocker with incendiary guitar chops and raw, powerful vocals. An award-winning Texas guitar slinger, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, she’s marking the release of her Alligator Records debut album, “Tempting Fate.” The album, her 11th, was produced by famed master roots musician Dave Alvin, and features Wonderland’s signature, blistering six-string and lap steel playing, intense vocals and original songs, melding blues, rock and Americana.

GuitarTownCT Productions presents Jake Blount & Friends at Best Video Performance Space Friday. Blount is an award-winning banjoist, fiddler, singer and scholar. He is a 2020 recipient of the Steve Martin Banjo Prize. He specializes in the music of Black communities in the southeastern United States, weaving blues, bluegrass and spirituals into the old-time string band tradition to which he belongs. He tours domestically and internationally as a solo performer, with his duo Tui, and with his band. Blount will be accompanied by Isa Burke on fiddle and vocals, from Lula Wiles, Gus Tritsch on guitar and Nelson Williams on bass.

Friday, Dana Fuchs will

be at Infinity Music Hall Norfolk. With Fuchs, you get a voice acclaimed by Classic Rock magazine as “juke-joint dirty and illicit, evoking Joplin, Jagger and a cigarette bobbing in a glass of bourbon.”

Now, she rips it up and starts again with her fourth album, which is all about hope and perseverance. Fuchs’ versatile career has embraced music, theater, and film. Born in New Jersey, she later moved to the small town of Wildwood, Florida with her musically oriented family. At age 12, she began singing in the

First Baptist Gospel Choir. Inspired by her parents’ record collection, she moved to New York City to sing the blues after leaving high school.

Fuchs put the band on hold until 2008 to concentrate on silver screen commitments. From there, she ignited performance stages all over the world’s bluesrock circuit with her burnthoney vocal and bruisingly honest songwriting. Fuchs is one of the best blues singers out there, with a phenomenal voice giving raw, powerful, vocals.

Hailed as a great guitar player of his generation and cited by Guitar World Magazine as “the world’s biggest blues guitarist,” Bonamassa has helped redefined the blues-rock genre and brought it into the mainstream.

Dead Meat plays the The Capitol Theatre on Saturday. The band, from Nyack, NY, is a tribute to the Grateful Dead featuring Dan Rappaport. They’ve become a fan favorite, known for moving harmonies and high-energy marathon blocks of music, which routinely push beyond the three-hour mark.

Along the way, meeting some of the best, and tallest, musicians in the Hudson Valley, TJay and the Tallboys was formed, incorporating rock/ pop with jazz and blues.

John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band have shows on Saturday and Sunday at at Daryl’s House. The legendary multi-platinum East Coast rock ‘n roll group began in 1972 and achieved mainstream success in the 1980s with the “Eddie & The Cruisers” motion picture soundtrack.

Theodores’ Blues, Booze, and BBQ has Chris Fitz on Friday. He broke into the Boston music scene back in 1994 after a five-year stint in the San Francisco area, and honed his blues guitar chops by floating around all the blues clubs in the Bay Area and finding inspiration in the local and national blues artists who frequented them.

Upon moving back to Boston, his hometown, he wasted no time hitting the various blues jams around the city with a guarded confidence that he could play well enough to find his way into a working band. The singing and songwriting would come a little later but the blistering guitar work soon began to make an impact!

Saturday, the Kosher Kid & The Amplifires play Theodores’. They cover a wide swath of blues, like Little Walter and Muddy Waters, as well as their own originals. The quartet is led by harp king and vocalist Dave Robbins, “The Kosher Kid”, and is supported by the firey Ryan VoodooChild Newman on guitars, thumpin’ rootsmaster Mike Speranza on bass, and Mark Hennessy on drums and vocals.
